Empowering Students with AI & Computational Thinking

Class 7 AI | Unit 1: AI Domains & Applications

The 3 Pillars (Domains) of AI 🏛️

Just like we use our eyes, ears, and brain to learn, AI uses three different Domains to understand the world. Let's break them down:

1. Data Science (Numbers & Patterns) 📊

What it is: AI that looks at large amounts of numbers and data to find hidden patterns and predict the future.

Daily Example: Weather Apps. The AI looks at data from the last 10 years to predict if it will rain in Hyderabad tomorrow.

Learning Focus: Even with Small Datasets, AI can find trends if the data is high quality!

2. Computer Vision (Eyes of the Machine) 👁️

What it is: Helping machines "see" and identify objects, people, or places in photos and videos.

Daily Example: Face Unlock on your phone or Self-Driving Cars that recognize traffic lights.

🌟 Activity Link: Google Emoji Scavenger Hunt
(Use your camera to find objects in your house that match the emoji!)

3. Natural Language Processing - NLP (Language) 🗣️

What it is: Teaching machines to understand, talk, and write in human languages (like Hindi, English, or Telugu).

Daily Example: Google Translate or Siri/Alexa answering your questions.

🌟 Activity Link: Semantris (NLP Word Association Game)
(Type words that the AI associates with given terms to see NLP in action!)

What are Predictive Techniques? 🔮

Predictive techniques are the "math" AI uses to guess what happens next. For example, if you buy a cricket bat online, the AI predicts you might also want a cricket ball.
