Chapter 2: Basic Data Concepts

AI & Computational Thinking for Class 6

🎯 Learning Objectives

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to:

  • Define Data and recognize its importance in AI.
  • Distinguish between Qualitative and Quantitative data.
  • Understand the lifecycle of data: Collection → Organization → Representation.
  • Apply data concepts to solve daily life problems.

1. Understanding Data

Think of AI as a smart robot. To make decisions, it needs information. This information is called Data.

🎒
Daily Life Example: Your school bag contains data! The number of books (Quantity) and the color of the bag (Quality) are both data points.

2. Data Types & Representation

Data can be words (Qualitative) or numbers (Quantitative). To make data easy to read, we use Tally Marks and Bar Graphs.

3. 🏃 Live Activity: Data Detective

Let's practice! Use the link below to see how data changes every second across the world.

Activity: "What is the world thinking?"

Go to Google Trends and compare "Ice Cream" vs "Chocolate". Which one has more data today?
